About Us
Jamdown Festival is a Music and Events Organisation based in the UK.
We host a mix of music genres with roots in West-Indian music, including Ska, Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Jungle, Drum and Bass, Dubstep – the phrase ‘Roots to Rave’ would best describe this synergy of genres.
Principles
For us at Jamdown Festival this culture is much bigger than music and we have written a list of guiding principles for our organisation to follow.
– We support the communities that we owe for the cultures we are celebrating and have chosen six dedicated charities and not for profit organisations that we will be supporting – by giving them a platform at the festival and through a share of our profits.
– Elevate Reggae and West Indian/Afro-Caribbean Culture in the UK, and the genres that evolved out of these cultures coming to the UK.
– We want to help Reggae and Afro-Caribbean influenced music build and develop new digital infrastructure and keep progressing forward with the modern world.
– Keep the festival accessible to all people, regardless of economic background. We intend to do this by providing payment plan options for tickets, keeping our drink prices cheaper than other festivals, and through a range of other initiatives to be announced.
– To seek out and promote up and coming artists both during and after the festival.
– Help representation in the music and events industry for women and people of colour.
– Helping young people get work experience and opportunities in the music and events industries.
